How do kids earn sticks in Busy Beaver Rewards?
Kids log responsibilities, exercise, reading, homework, and other good habits. Each task is worth a number of sticks set by a parent, and logging it adds the sticks instantly along with a streak update. The goal isn't just the reward - it's seeing that small actions add up to something bigger.
Can parents approve rewards before sticks are spent?
Yes. When a child taps Redeem, the request goes to the parent approvals queue. Parents can approve, bulk-approve, or reject with a reason before any sticks are spent. It's a simple way for kids to practice choice and for parents to practice trust.
Does the whole family share one account?
Parents sign up with their own email and password. Kids do not need a separate login - they tap their player card on the Players screen to enter their own HUD. Parents can optionally set a 4-digit PIN on a kid's profile for a light privacy layer between siblings. The whole household's data stays shared and synced across devices either way.
Is Busy Beaver Rewards free to use?
Yes, Busy Beaver Rewards is free to use in any modern web browser on phones, tablets and computers, and data syncs across devices.
What age is a stick chart best for?
The app works well for roughly ages 5 to 17. Younger kids do best with short daily must-dos like brushing teeth and reading, while teens respond to bigger rewards such as screen time, social media access or cash.
Can parents set custom tasks and reward values?
Parents can create any task or reward and choose how many sticks it is worth. Kids can suggest their own goals too, but a parent has to approve the goal and its sticks before it counts.
What happens if someone misses a day?
Progress doesn't require perfection. Every builder gets one grace day a week, so a single missed day keeps the streak running. Miss more than that? Dam it. The streak starts over, but your sticks, levels, dam and best streak all stay exactly where they were. You simply pick up the next stick and keep building.
How do streaks and levels work?
Logging a task on back-to-back days builds a streak, with bonus sticks at 3, 7 and 30 days. Sticks also stack into levels, so every 100 sticks earns a level up and a celebration.
Does the app work on both iPad and computer?
Yes. Everything is stored in the cloud, so a child can log tasks on an iPad while a parent approves rewards from a laptop and both see the same sticks and history.
